Trains Magazine
This webpage is created in 2020 to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Kalmbach's Trains Magazine, one of the most popular, if not the most popular, publishing company in a world of contemporary railroading. My experience with this elaborate magazine started around 2012 when my family and I noticed a big pile of Trains issues in a dumpster by our local thrift store. We immediately rescued them out and could see there are hundreds of pages of irresistibly valuable railroad stories. That makes a nice and tall stack! I also received one special issue as a gift from my family during that same year. Between 2016 and 2019, I used to go to a Weis grocery store that does offer regular Trains issues as well as special issues like the Locomotive annuals, which are my favorites. In early November of 2019, due to an excellent discount for first-time customers, I finally decided to become a subscriber of this terrific magazine.
In this webpage, you'll see my big collection of pre-owned issues, pre-subscription issues, subscribed issues, and special issues. Please note, however, that not all of the used ones are consecutive, so don't ask me why some of them are missing in my collection. We only found whatever was thrown in the garbage. You'll also notice that I put a key and a small, folded piece of paper on the mailing address that is printed on some issues. This is done to protect my identity as well as the previous owner's. So I hope you enjoy my collection in honor of this well-respected railroading magazine at age 80.

Although my collection of pre-owned issues seems to be incomplete, I certainly wanted a digital archive of all these magazines published since 1940. In fact, Kalmbach initially produced a DVD-ROM set of all Trains issues as part of its 70th anniversary in 2010. In 2020, however, Kalmbach announced its new Trains.com website that would merge Trains Magazine with other railroad-related magazines including Classic Trains, Model Railroader, Classic Toy Trains, and Garden Railways. The website finally opened by spring 2021 and contains a lot of new digital features such as electronic hobby books and the complete archives of all the magazines, which go as far back as the very first issue of each.
These features are available exclusively for customers with the "Unlimited Membership" option. If you're interested in viewing the archives, I highly recommend becoming a member. Please click on the link below to join the Unlimited Membership today, and I hope you'll enjoy your visit to a complete virtual library of railroad media.
