Bronze Medal of Horsepower - Baldwin RT-624

Possessing the Bronze Medal of Horsepower is another transfer diesel: the Baldwin RT-624. Although slightly less powerful than the Lima-Hamilton LT-2500, it did have the same typical characteristics of a transfer locomotive. It somewhat resembled the L-H version but had two supercharged 606A engines. Each of them was rated at 1,200 horsepower (six cylinders) and used for other Baldwin locomotives, including the S-12 switcher and RS-12 road switcher. The RT-624 had 400 horses more than its predecessor, the DT-6-6-2000.
