Railroad Trains for the Soul: On Board Amtrak (Accommodations And Services) 1994
Still stuck at home? Let's have a virtual cross-country travel on Amtrak in this spectacular 30-minute promotional video from 1994! Join passengers Susan and her son Jack as they are going to take the train from Los Angeles, California to visit his grandfather in Baltimore, Maryland.
We'll begin with the Sunset Limited, a double-decker Superliner train from L.A. to Florida. Then we'll transfer to a single-level passenger train, called the Silver Star, from Florida to Washington, D.C. and finally the Northeast Corridor's high speed Metroliner from there to Baltimore. In every train, we'll meet Jim who is proud to be our tour guide for the whole trip.
While riding on the Silver Star, you'll also see Amtrak's Auto Train, which carries passengers and their automobiles from Lorton, Virginia to Sanford, Florida. Of course, much has changed since this promotional video, especially due to the emergence of the new Viewliner fleet that replaced the remaining pre-owned Heritage Fleet cars for single-level passenger trains. Amtrak's paint scheme also completely changed from the popular red, white, and blue stripes to the blue and silver livery in the early 2000's.
Regardless of these corporate changes, you can still enjoy this timeless travel across the United States of America. "There's something about a train that's magic!"
