Railroad Trains for the Soul: GE Locomotives
Let's visit the lakeshore town of Erie, Pennsylvania, the birthplace of locomotives built by General Electric. Here are three videos compiling photos of those machines with their gleaming coats of paint as if they were fresh from the factory. Because the pictures were taken in the 1980's and 1990's, you'll see many diesel locomotives from almost all types of product lines prior to the Evolution Series: Universal, Dash-7, DASH 8, DASH 9, AC Traction, and the GENESIS Series. Other photos show some GE-built diesel switchers, and there's even a single photo of a straight-electric locomotive for export to Mexico. You'll also see lots of paint schemes representing the so-called fallen flags that eventually merged into today's Class I railroads. Special thanks to YouTube uploader Jim Gray for sharing his photos of these magnificent GE locomotives!
