Bonus: Classic Trains & Classic Toy Trains
As an added bonus to my Trains Magazine collection, there are two other types of Kalmbach magazines I am kind enough to share.
The first is a quarterly periodical called Classic Trains, which is similar to Trains but focuses mostly on vintage railroading prior to the late 1970's. Earlier this year, I purchased a printed copy of the Classic Trains Spring 2020 issue from a local Weis store to give the magazine a try. This particular issue commemorates 20 years of this publication. Then I realized that I should appreciate the spirit of vintage railroading just as much as modern railroading, so I subscribed digitally to Classic Trains via Zinio in April of 2020. In case you're curious, I'm not going to get any more printed issues of this publication because of my digital subscription. However, if you're interested in subscribing to Classic Trains, please visit https://ctr.trains.com and click on the Subscribe button at the top right of your computer screen.
The second periodical is called Classic Toy Trains, which focuses primarily on O gauge and S gauge trains from various brands, including Lionel and MTH. In July 2015 (almost five years ago), we visited an incredible model train store and museum called The Train Room, located in Hagerstown, Maryland. During our visit, its owner Charles Mozingo told us that this place was documented in an article from the July 2015 issue of Classic Toy Trains. As a result, he kindly wrote an autograph on the first page of that article. It gave me a great impression of visiting the same place at the same time this issue was scheduled for. To date, July 2015 is the only Classic Toy Trains issue in my collection. If you're interested in reading stories about model and toy trains, please visit https://ctt.trains.com and click Subscribe at the top right. You will receive 9 issues per year.
As a similar case to Trains Magazine, Kalmbach does offer digital archive products of both Classic Trains and Classic Toy Trains on DVD-ROM, ideal for those of you who have missed a lot of enjoyable stories from so many years ago. You'll see many old stories and photos documented for Classic Toy Trains since 1987 and for Classic Trains since 2000.
