Great Railway Journeys of the World: Confessions of a Train Spotter
As an added bonus to my Thomas the Tank Engine VHS/DVD collection, I am proud to present the VHS release of BBC's Great Railway Journeys of the World: Confessions of a Train Spotter featuring Monty Python actor Michael Palin. It is a story about him enjoying British railways and wanting to take a train trip from his home in London all the way to Kyle of Lochalsh up north in Scotland. It was filmed in 1980 and released on tape eight years later. Like the three UK format Thomas tapes shown in my collection, this unique video is in PAL format and can only play in a multisystem VCR. While the Confessions of a Train Spotter is not a Thomas video, I always love to watch this splendid tape alongside the whole Thomas collection. It's a great one that features British trains such as the Flying Scotsman (shown on the VHS front cover), a famous steam locomotive that pulled one of the trains that Michael Palin rode on. Overall, the Confessions of a Train Spotter is one of my favorite train videos on VHS other than Thomas & Friends, and I have been watching it for years since I was a little kid!
