Happy Father's Day!

As you may or may not know, I normally collect O gauge toy trains. However, for those of you who don't know, my dad actually has his very own toy train! It's an American Flyer S gauge train, and he used to play with it when he was a kid during the Postwar Era. His old trains and layout are currently stored in our basement. In contrast, some of my O gauge trains are from Lionel, who was a rival to American Flyer up until the 1970s when Lionel decided to acquire American Flyer, due to the bankruptcy of the A.C. Gilbert Company (maker of AF). Although I'm more of an O gauge person, I do like my dad's S gauge train just as much. It would be nice if we can rebuild his layout, but we currently don't have enough space in our house. Recently, I went to a local antique store and found some AF S gauge trains. I thought this would be the best Father's Day gift for my dad, but we couldn't buy them if we didn't rebuild his layout. If the S gauge layout were rebuilt, I can most likely use it with my DCS remote, especially because MTH is putting out its first S gauge locomotive. MTH began its S gauge line in 2013. Because the MTH S Gauge product line is relatively recent, I thought about purchasing an MTH S gauge train to support MTH's growing S gauge market. To avoid confusion with those two photos shown, the train set with the blue steam locomotive belongs to my dad on one photo and the other train is at the antique store on the other photo. I'll explain more about S gauge trains in the future. Otherwise, I wish you all a Happy Father's Day!
